Villagers star in SOS series

Posted on Tuesday, 13 September 2011 11:17AM by Judy and the Peakdistrict Online Team
Tideswell villagers should be celebrities after starring in a television documentary focusing on rural communities.

Tideswell was featured in the last In The Village SOS series on September 8th.

The hour-long programme focused on the Taste Tideswell project which was given a £400,000 Big Lottery Fund grant.

Tim Nicol, Taste Tideswell’s village champion, said: "Reflecting on the last year, I think that everyone involved in Taste Tideswell can take a great deal of pride in what has been achieved so far.

"Thanks to the selfless commitment of village volunteers and the hard work of local staff, the Big Lottery Fund grant has been wisely spent and has resulted in a fantastic set of benefits for the village as a whole."

Taste Tideswell is one of six projects to be featured on the BBC One Village SOS series, presented by Sarah Beeny.

Villagers developed a new food brand, created a community kitchen garden, ran education activities and launched the Tideswell School of Food.
